Description
In tribute to our nation’s heroes, the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force will open its doors on Monday, November 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for Veterans Day, welcoming veterans with free admission as a token of gratitude for their service. A special “Ringing of the Bells” ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the museum’s Memorial Garden near the Chapel, an annual tradition to honor those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. This solemn event commemorates the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I, with each bell toll symbolizing peace, remembrance, and the courage of all who have served. The museum’s exhibits and historical artifacts offer visitors an immersive experience into the stories of the Eighth Air Force, known as the ‘Mighty Eighth,’ whose members courageously defended the skies over Europe during World War II. The public is welcome to explore these powerful displays and reflect on the significance of Veterans Day.
