Free Yoga Class

Sunday, February 15, 2026 (4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) (EST)

Description

Join Shea for a free class supporting Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. Donations are encouraged with all proceeds going directly to Second Harvest. This class will incorporate gentle movement and yoga nidra. Much more than a technique, yoga nidra, often called "yogic sleep" is deeply restorative and healing; a balm to our busy lifestyles and often overstimulating world. It is a practice that encourages us to turn our awareness inward to a deep heart knowing so that we lead our lives from a place of compassion, wisdom, and love. Shea will guide you through some gentle movements to prepare the mind and body for deep rest. The majority of the experience takes place on the floor with an abundance of resting and nesting props; bolsters, blankets, blocks, etc. There is no prior experience needed for the practice of yoga nidra as Shea will be using her voice to guide your awareness while you rest and relax into stillness. You are encouraged to bring any additional nesting props with you; pillows, favorite blankets, eye pillows, and warm clothing like socks and sweaters as your body temperature tends to drop as you move into deep rest. Shea's desire to support Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia through this free class is rooted in her belief that food is a right, not a privilege. Unfortunately, access to food doesn't always feel like a right, hence the need for organizations like Second Harvest. Shea knows first hand the healing power of food. Through the lens of Ayurveda, often called "yoga's sister science", food is often used first for healing because of its deeply nourishing properties; herbs and spices act like medicines. Food connects us to nature and WE are nature. But it also connects each of us to our ancestors and a sense of belonging through family, community, and a shared love for food or cooking. We don't heal alone, we heal in community and when communities gather, food is often present. Everyone should have access to healing, through community and through food. Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is an organization that helps make that available to our community.
